Preppy Then & Now
Preppy is a style that has been around forever. But the style itself has evolved from old timey preppy, with knee length plaid skirts and shiny brown loafers, oxfords buttoned up all the way and great grandmother pearls.

This was the "original" preppy. Nowadays, "preppy" is so much different. What's considered preppy now would never be considered preppy then. Huge, shiny statement necklaces, lots of bows, strapless dresses, oversized t-shirts, Jack Rogers, and baseball caps. Yes, preps do wear some of the same basic items that the "original" preps wore, but these items have evolved. The plaid skirt is about 6 inches shorter, the oxfords have come unbuttoned and the dresses have gradually over time, lost around 6 inches from the skirt, then the sleeves, etc.. It's interesting to see the change of preppy over time and maybe it will continue to evolve for my children.
I consider the "new"preppy a more fashion forward version of the preppy that used be around. People have taken the style and run with it, there are new colors and styles that are considered preppy. My personal preppy inspiration is Sarah Vickers and her fiance Keil James Patrick. Just their style in tislef encompases the whole preppy style, even their car refects their vintage preppy style! I love Sarah Vickers Blog "Classy Girls Wear Pearls" She is just so gorgeous and I use her photos as inspiration for my style!
What do you guys think about this "evolved" Preppy look?
Happy Blogging!
